For the "history of art," I chose a piece by Claude Monet titled "San Giorgio Maggiore by Twilight." The colors in this piece are bright, but soft at the same time. For his time, Monet was and is still considered one of the greatest impressionistic artists of all time. He had a new use of color with vibrance that spread all over his canvas, but did it enough that it wasn't overpowering. It is obviously an impressionistic piece, but the contrast between colors makes it stand out a lot more than any other piece I have seen. Most of Monet's other pieces are a more soft and easy to look at. This piece has an edgy feel because of its dark colors. There is dominace with the castle on the left hand side, a small building on the right, and a medium reflection underneath the castle. This piece does not feature a human form. I have been encouraged, after this piece to experiment with more styles that I haven't tried before.

The next piece that could show Visual Culture could be Andy Warhol's rendition of Marilyn Monroe. He used many bright colors for each piece he did of this particular picture. He is a founding artist of the term "pop art" which his art was focused on pop culture during his life. This work is very well known, as well as most of his pieces, but people connect with this one because of it being Marilyn Monroe. The Marilyn print takes up the whole canvas to be the focal point. Because it is a photo print the human proportions are mostly accurate. I am a big Monroe fan, therefore I am automatically drawn to the piece. I have been influenced to do art with pop culture because it is one of my main interests.

This piece is for Fashion Design. The colors used for this piece were basically used to plan out what the clothing would look like, in general, if it was finished. Cool colors are used for this piece. There is shading with the colored pencil to show the effect of the clothing. The form is taking up most of the page to get the full effect. The human form is proportionate because it is used to accurately display clothing. I haven't really been influenced by this piece, but it does make me want to try new things.

Image Essay #6

The image I have chosen is a Coca-Cola bottle that is drawn on the side walk but shaded to look three dimensional. The color contrasts seem to fit well with the side walk color since every detail around the drawer has to be taken into effect. Julian Beever has made pavement drawings for over ten years. He has worked in the United Kingdom., Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, the United States of America and Australia. The artist is known as the sidewalk chalk guy who goes to random cities, mostly New York and draws on the side walk to make a life like creation. The bottle is done to make it look as real as possible and I think that was achieved . The pavement drawings have included both renderings of old masters plus a wealth of original inventive pieces of work. Anamorphic illusions drawn in a special distortion in order to create an impression of 3 dimensions when seen from one particular viewpoint. Over all, I thought this was a good drawing it takes some time and a lot of techniques to make this look as life like as it does. The way it seems to come to life makes someone wonder how it was done.

The painting I have chosen is a multiple array of paintings that all seem to relate to each other in some ways. One way that they are all related are the colors, they all seem to follow the same color balances, it is also kept darker which makes the painting more mysterious. They all seem to follow the same texture patterns. They all compliment each others by facial expressions or a depth of sadness. There is not any negative space in the painting and if there is it is used with some relevance to the other pictures in the painting. It is drawn with wider definite lines that catch ones attention when looking directly at the piece. In this piece of art there is a definite texture in painting stimulates two different senses. This makes it a unique element of art. Over all, I like this work of art it has a look as if it is windy or a breeze is going through the painting, it gives it a tropical feel. Maybe the artist was not trying to make them all match but in my opinion I like they way the compliment each other. It is a unique style the artist has to create this type of work.

The painting I have chosen is just a piece of work that was created in an hour, using multiple colors and textures. I like this because it wasn’t something that was planned out or drawn out it was something that just happened. It is a free painting, I like the color choices they are warm colors that give the painting a sense of variety. There is a ton of negative space but it some how makes this painting work. It is dark and has a sense that just fades as one looks down. It is a simple but technical design; that artist seems satisfied with it even though it was simple most artists would just be disappointed with what they created and go over it again and again so the colors would blend through. These are raw colors which capture the eye. Over all, I think this is a good painting, it is just unique and does not have meaning so that makes it exciting. The textures in this are many brush strokes on top of each other to create the look of multiple layers and a lot of hard work. Which also makes it something to look at and makes it creative.

The painting I has chosen is a tree struggling to break free. I like this piece of art because of how it has the appearance that it is going to just come right off the canvas. It reminds me of someone struggling to break free as they are growing since the tree is smaller. In this piece of art there is a definite texture in painting stimulates two different senses. This makes it a unique element of art. It makes one think of how this could separate into two different varieties. The pigment of the background color slightly contrasts with the color of the tree which makes it seem to come more alive since they are almost the same color but it is slightly darkened to show an effect in contrast. This is a landscape painting to an extent with the fact of a surreal tree, but with there isn’t a continuation of the on the scene. Everything in the painting seems to blend very well and compliment each other. Overall I think it is a good painting in my eyes it represents a something that needs to be free and branch off of itself and create some other work of art.

The image I have chosen is a digital eye. This piece shows a square texture with a futuristic effect. It gives the person looking at a multi-dimensional feel. It makes it seem that you are looking at it in many senses, you could look at it eight different ways or not more to make it look different. The depth of this photograph is amazing it captures some one looking at it; like a trap. With showing the human eye its gives the person looking at it a sense of confusion which becomes the area of focus in this piece. It eye is one of the first things I see when I look at it really explodes. The proportion of colors in this seem to rotate in a pattern that somehow balance the eye itself. Digital compositing is the process of digitally assembling multiple images to make a final image, typically for print, motion pictures or screen display; this work of art displays the colors. The image is multiple images in itself to compose one piece. It incorporates many color levels and contrasts to makes it something to look at. Overall, I believe it is something that would catches ones eye per say, into like this piece of art.

The image I have chosen is a silhouette of couple dancing in a projected background . This piece shows human relationship through a sense of color choices with balance of light and dark colors. This work has a selective focus through the camera angles. They do not show any facial expression. Silhouettes are most often made by a skilled silhouette artist by looking at a subject's profile, whether in person or from a photograph, and simply cutting out their likeness freehand. With the silhouettes blended into the background it catches ones eye with how intense the background is, but still gives you a sense of a passion between the couple. A (digital) color image is a
digital image that includes color information for each pixel. For visually acceptable results, it is necessary (and almost sufficient) to provide three samples (color channels) for each pixel, which are interpreted as coordinates in some color space. The RGB color space is commonly used in computer displays, but other spaces such as YCbCr, HSV, and are often used in other contexts. Overall, I like this picture because of how it is displayed, I also like how everything is eye catching and makes one think about how the artist captured this moment.
